Seize the day - Horace, Roman poet December 8, 65 BC – November 27, 8 BC
Seize the day, grab hold of your bone and enjoy it as if it were your last.
In The news today,
With all this going on, How can I be expected to live in the present and keep moving forward? I must take action for my future today, yes, because I definitely can't trust everything will fall into place if I don't seize every moment of every day in a conscious manner. Our dogs do not watch the news. they don't need to understand because it is not their mess. They count on nature to guide them, as we should be too. It should be a simpler life for all of us.
Only humans have a way of making things more complicated than they should be!

In ancient literature:
Ask not ('tis forbidden knowledge), what our destined term of years, Mine and yours; nor scan the tables of your Babylonish seers.Better far to bear the future, my Leuconoe, like the past,Whether Jove has many winters yet to give, or this our last; This, that makes the Tyrrhene billows spend their strength against the shore.Strain your wine and prove your wisdom; life is short; should hope be more?In the moment of our talking, envious time has ebb'd away. Seize the present; trust tomorrow e'en as little as you may.
Translation of the above Seize the day, writings:
In Horace, the phrase is part of the longer carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero, which can be translated as "Seize the day, put very little trust in tomorrow (the future)". The ode says that the future is unforeseen and that one should not leave to chance future happenings, but rather one should do all one can today to make one's future better.
Down many cactus covered paths, near my house,
I sniff the truth of who I am and where I am going. My knowledge is never complete. My questions are many.
My dog sniffs everything in his path. He picks up a scent and goes in that smelly direction. He is guided by his curiosity. His sniffing leads him to endless discoveries.
There are many thorns and sharp needles, on the path to truth, but there are also pretty flowers. Sparks of color tucked beneath shady rocks. How they keep growing in the burning desert sun is amazing to see...
They are not discouraged by adverse conditions,
I seize the day...
I try to be a spark of color, and keep growing in the midst of adversity.
I also try to be like the dog, picking up a scent that leads to endless discovery.
What is my recommendation?
Seize the day, every day!
